I read this quote today on a blog I follow and I just had to share it.

"Good prayers," says an old divine, "never come weeping home. I am sure I shall receive either what I ask, or what I should ask. Prayer pulls the rope below, and the great bell rings above in the ears of God. Some scarcely stir the bell, for they pray so languidly; others give but an occasional pull at the rope; but he who wins with heaven is the man who grasps the rope boldly and pulls continuously with all his might."

That is the best kind of bell ringing -- ringing the bells of heaven -- making a sensation in the world celestial, and pulling the power down upon the world terrestrial. Reader, do you know how to handle the bell rope, to pull it vigorously and constantly? We know some that do. Hell trembles when they seize the rope. --

Chopped Liver

This morning Adam and I had the day off so I could go to the Gem Fair with my SIL and my Mom while Adam took care of the kids. Since he would have the kids all day I offered to get up with them when they woke up. Once they woke, I could hear Gabe up in the living room calling for Daddy.

"Daaaddyyyyyyy" in his singsongy happy voice.

"Daaaddyyyyyy" over again.

I go upstairs and Gabe comes over to the stairs to see me.

"Daaaddyyyyy" with a big grin.

Me- "Not Daddy. Mommy"

"Daaaddyyyy" still smiling as he calls for the preferred parent. And I repeat "No, not Daddy, Mommy." He remains unconvinced even when I explain Daddy is sleeping and Mommy will take care of him. He continues to call for Daddy.

As I go downstairs to get something I hear Gabe following me.

"Daaaddyyyyy. Wh'are you Daddy?

Daaadddyyy, wh'are you?"

Daddy did not get to sleep in. He figured if Gabe could articulate an entire sentence in trying to get him, he would just have to answer the call. :)

Happiness is a box

Its a beaut

By this time of year there is not much left I like about snow, but earlier this week, we had an overnight snow fall with HUGE fluffy flakes that just made our front yard gorgeous. I don't really love our neighbor's tree most of the time, especially in the fall when I have a yard full of their leaves, but this was beautiful.

Then, by the end of the morning, it had all melted away and as you know from the previous post, we are on to spring flowers already.

I have been quite frustrated lately with a neighborhood cat that has decided my flower beds make a great bathroom. Ugh! I need a way to keep that darn cat out! I didn't think any of my flowers would grow in the spring since the cat has been busy digging them up every time I turn around.

Today, the weather was fantastic (68 degrees, can you believe it?!) so we spent a lot of time outside. And this is what I see out of the corner of my eye....

Yay! At least the cat hasn't killed them all yet. There are almost a dozen little plants poking their heads up in my front flower bed. Spring is coming!!!

Now, how do I keep the cat out, so it doesn't do any more damage?

Porter loves books

For FHE on Monday we read a big pile of books to the kids and talked about education and the importance of reading. Porter and Gabe both love books and really loved the idea of an entire evening of reading.

This is one of Porter's favorite books, for the sheer size of it, and for the accent Adam uses when he reads it to them.

Gabe really loves the camera as well as books, so he was doubly happy, as you can see. :)

Gabe really likes phones

Its for you!
